Why the cast of Desperados Seems so familiar
Pedrad abandoned SNL in 2014, going on to guest on a variety of popular series including The Mindy Project, People of Earth, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Most recently, though, you might have caught her in one of 2019’s biggest films: Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin, where she played Dalia, the faithful handmaiden and friend of Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott).
In the part of Wesley is Nasim Pedrad, who has been one of the funniest women on TV for several years. Oddly, her first major television role was as Nurse Suri on the venerable drama E.R.. She appeared on several episodes between 2007 and 2009, a gig she followed with one that made her a star.
In 2009, Pedrad joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, and quickly established herself as a humorous and versatile performer — not to mention a talented impressionist. During her tenure on the show, she performed uncanny impressions of a wide variety of actors, including (but not restricted to) Kim Kardashian, Barbara Walters, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Kelly Ripa, Alicia Keys, Edie Falco, Sharon Osbourne, and Ariana Huffington.
