Pat is waiting for Courtney when she tries to sneak back home with the Cosmic Staff and confronts her about stealing the artifacts. Pat feels betrayed about recruitment JSA members that Courtney was going. Pat says that Courtney has placed all of these kids’ lives at risk, not wanting them to end up like Joey Zarick. Pat takes the remaining costumes and things back and tells Courtney to get the costume and goggles back from Beth and Yolanda, saying he will talk to Rick about getting the hourglass back.
In the Injustice Society headquarters, Sharpe tells Jordan that they could acquire the satellite codes along with the equipment Dr. Ito requested. Lawrence says they want Brainwave in order for Project: New America to work. They then talk about the rising of the Justice Society, and Jordan says that he would like to find out who they are.
At his home, Jordan/Icicle receives a text from Principal Bowin the”gym rats” are at it again. Jordan faces Lawrence and Paula who are busy burying their third coach that is killed. Jordan warns them they need to keep focused since they are getting back into action, and to obtain their suits.
Pat and Rick meet up and tells him that he understood his real dad and asks if they could speak while Mike prepares for the science fair. Courtney struggles with telling the others they can’t be a part of the Justice Society as Yolanda and Beth express how much it means to have something more, whether it be redemption or finally having someone paying attention. Courtney tries to break it to them at lunch, stating Pat found out and he’s pissed, but Yolanda doesn’t need to give up Wildcat and Beth doesn’t want to shed Chuck (the goggles) who is her friend now.

In the sixth installment of DC Universe’s Stargirl, after Pat faces Courtney about the potential consequences of recruiting new JSA members, Courtney makes a challenging decision and the JSA prepares for their first mission.
Lacking a few teamwork skills and untrained, the teens are not able to stop The Gambler from accessing the satellite codes. Pat shows up in STRIPE, sending the packing before Tigress and Sportsmaster have the ability to finish them off. Pat takes the children back to his store, Pat was able to build the machine out of automobiles and where Rick, Yolanda, and Beth respect. Beth thinks Pat should work for NASA, and Rick admits that Courtney was right, there is more to Pat than they thought.
Artemis is the only woman on the football team and ends up getting benched after an altercation with one of the boys on the team. After college, Lawrence and Paula confront the coach… by murdering him.
Later at the high school, her parents, Artemis, and the football team welcome the Coach Karasick. As they watch Artemis practice sharpe/The Gambler stops by to talk with Paula and Lawrence. He hands them an Empire Enterprises ID label for Jack Hughes, saying they’ve got the broadcasting equipment and now they need to retrieve the satellite codes to use it.
Suited up, the four members of the JSA arrive at Empire Enterprises to stop The Gambler. The group comes across a guard body, which shakes up the teens a bit after Beth can get them indoors without setting off the alarm. Instead of running into The Gambler, however, the group comes face-to-face with the costumed duo of Sportsmaster and Tigress. Needing to buy a few minutes to Sharpe to finish obtaining the satellite codes, Tigress and Sportsmaster battle with the JSA.
Pat has him look at the truck that he destroyed, telling him his father never would have used his abilities and takes Rick. Rick asks Pat he has not done anything to prevent the Injustice Society, and Pat answers he’s trying to. He gives Rick his father’s diary and asks if he can help him. Rick scans over the pages, stating the information doesn’t match up to Rex’s history, wondering if it’s a code. Pat says the hourglass back because Rick is abusing the power his father created and that he wants it when Rick goes to select the journal with him. Pat says that’s not true, although rick accuses Pat of looking at him does. Rick takes off with the diary and the hourglass, but not before putting in to Pat about the way he thinks Pat is a worthless sidekick who”doesn’t do anything.”
Unexpectedly, Chuck’s alarm signal goes away and he explains his arch-enemy is attempting to hack into the communication firm Empire Enterprises’ system. Courtney wants to tell Pat, but the others vote against the team and it decides to go after The Gambler themselves, but on one condition — protect their identities and they have to wear costumes.
To Artemis, Lawrence and Paula are describing at the exact same time that they’re having so that they’ll be out for the night. Meanwhile, Jordan and his son, Cameron, are celebrating the birthday of Cameron’s late mom.
Upstairs, Courtney expresses her frustration about having had a strategy but the others didn’t take her lead. Pat says he understands how it feels wanting to help someone and have them not listen. Why he was concerned about the children getting 15, courtney realizes his purpose and sees. Pat tells Courtney what they all need is coaching, calling the group her teammates, much to the delight of Courtney.
Throughout the science fair, Mike is excited when Barbara shows up to support his chocolate lava volcano and the two begin to bond more. Later, Courtney catches up with Beth and Yolanda asking if maybe they all can try speaking to Pat. Rick says that he did and shows up, not knowing what his dad or what Courtney sees in Pat and Courtney gets defensive of her stepdad, stating there is more to him than they realize. Rick breaks out his dad’s diary and asks if Dr. Mid-Nite can clarify one of the equations inside. Beth puts on the goggles and Chuck says the equation has no match on record.
