Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys For Life held on the #1 spot this weekend, taking in an estimated $34 million for a $120.6 million national total and $215.6 million worldwide. The threequel is already well on its way to besting Bad Boys II‘s $273.3 million worldwide total to become the highest-grossing entry in the series.

Universal’s WWI epic 1917 held onto #2 as well, raking in $15.8 million for $103.8 million stateside and $200.4 million worldwide, two big milestones for the Best Picture frontrunner.

Unfortunately Universal’s new horror picture The Turning took a turn for the worst, coming in at #6 with $7.3 million in 2571 locations. The Mackenzie Davis-led thriller also earned a rare”F” Cinemascore from audiences, the second of the year after The Grudge reboot only a few weeks ago.

More bad news as Universal’s large budget dud Dolittle fell 42 percent but remained at #3 with $12.5 million for a $44.6 million domestic take and $91 million globally. With the gross about internationally with the U.S. take it sounds even overseas numbers can not save Robert Downey Jr.’s household vehicle.

Debuting at #4 was STX Films’ The Gentlemen, that brought in $11 million. This is a middling start for the Guy Ritchie crime film, which also earned strong reviews. Internationally it has earned $22.5 million for a $33.5 million worldwide total.

Sony’s Jumanji: The Next Level held strong in its 7th weekend to get the #5 slot with $7.9 million for a $283.4 million national tally and $737.4 million globally.

Ultimately, Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker crossed another milestone as it became the 15th film in history to cross $500 million domestically. With $1.046 billion worldwide and winding down, it may be a stretch for the J.J. Abrams film to transcend The Last Jedi‘s $1.3 billion, but it is an impressive performance regardless.

  1. Did anyone hear when he said “there’s a fish on my head”
The phineas and ferb intro “there’s a hundred and four days”

  2. This movie is truly targeted towards us 30 year olds and older who grew up with the real original Sonic games on the SEGA GENESIS and I’m speaking of Sonic 1,2,3 and Knuckles, not the other 3D games or YouTube comics that today’s kids know about, this will definitely be a nostalgic trip for all us Grown ups 👍🏼

  3. As much as I would have *loved* it if they got Jason Griffith to voice Sonic for this movie. I have to admit, in my head I can’t hear any of these lines sounding really good in his voice.

  4. In case you didn’t know, when a fish is out of water they have the same sensation as drowning. So this comedy bit here doesn’t work for me, having to watch a creature asphixiate and then drop to the floor like it’s a piece of garbage.

I eat fish, but I say "I’m sorry. Thank you for the meal" to the fish every time I do it.

  6. I like to imagine this entire scene was more so Sonic’s way of venting all the crap he’s been through in the last 10-20 years.
